After you have installed Tax, you must define some Firm settings. Tax simplifies administrative tasks by placing everything you need to organize your firm, staff, and tax processing options in one location. You can set up and maintain data for the following:
- Tax Options. These are miscellaneous options, such as using mixed case format for client names and updating the client profile when common data
Data fields used in two or more applications, such as client ID, sort name, and email address, that are shared between products. changes are made to a tax return. - Return Defaults. Once you assign a return default to an organization unit, if there is a configuration set assigned to a lower-level organization unit, the lower-level setting overrides the settings of the higher-level organizational unit.
- Return Configuration Set. Select return configuration sets as the default for organizational units in your firm. We recommend you first set up all of your organizational units and your return configuration sets.
- Print Set. Select default print sets as the defaults for organizational units in your firm. We recommend you first set up all of your organizational units and your print sets.
- Pennsylvania Cities. This option allows you to configure the Individual system with up to 99 additional Pennsylvania tax jurisdictions. These custom jurisdictions appear as additional selections in Tax Preparation.
How do I get there?
To define the above settings in Tax, do the following:
- Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Settings and defaults under Firm.
- Click Tax on the navigation panel.
- Enter the information on the tabs in the Tax section. Click
in the upper-right corner of the window for more assistance, if needed. - Click OK to save changes or Cancel to exit the window without saving.
